A coastal low will impact Eastern North Carolina Wednesday night to Friday afternoon bringing the potential for heavy rain, strong winds, coastal flooding, and dangerous marine conditions.

Strong winds could blow around light unsecured objects and cause isolated power outages Thursday evening into Friday morning with wind gusts 40-50 mph along the coast.

Minor coastal flooding is possible (soundside and oceanside) Thursday night into Friday with localized ocean overwash for vulnerable dune structures and rough surf. Dangerous marine conditions expected across all waterways.

There is still some uncertainty in the amounts and location of heaviest rainfall and coastal impacts. The National Weather Service says that they will continue to fine tune specific impacts as the low approaches and update the briefing if conditions warrant.
