Tail Waggin’ Tuesday: December 19, 2023 – OBX Today

Are you in search of the perfect fur-ever friend? A new addition to the family, perhaps? OBX Today in partnership with the Outer Banks SPCA is proud to present “Tail Waggin’ Tuesdays.”

Each Tuesday, browse our provided selection of videos and images and follow along as we showcase a variety of pets that are currently awaiting adoption at our local animal shelter.

This week’s featured pets are Chloe, Lary, Scout, Selkie, Suri, Colten & Tyler, Bandit & Tipper, Macy & Lacey, and Trench & Watson. Verbiage is provided by shelter manager Leann Saunders:

Chloe
Chloe is about 4 years old and was surrendered into our care due to no fault of her own. Chloe’s previous family could no longer care for her. Chloe is house trained, good with kids, and seems to do well with other animals. The shelter was too scary for Chloe so we were able to find a temporary foster to house her until someone is interested in adopting her.

Lary
Lary is 3 years old and is sadly back in our care. Lary was in foster care for awhile then adopted to a woman out of town who was actually a vet. Over several months she was able to put Lary through heartworm treatment and did her best to socialize him but she found that Lary would really be happiest in a home with another dog. Lary is crate trained, loves to be outside, and loves puzzle feeders!

Scout
Scout is four years old and was surrendered into our care because the family felt as if he would be better in a home without young energetic children. Scout is a big lap dog who doesn’t know his size. He is a huge cuddle bug who went from sleeping in his owners bed to living here in a kennel. He is still very confused but is the sweetest boy who loves attention. He does well with other animals! His birthday is on 12/21 and all he is asking for is to find his forever home in time for Christmas.

Selkie
Selkie is about two years old and was found on the side of the road in East Lake. We received a phone call stating that a black Honda opened their door right before the Alligator River Bridge  and let him out and kept going. Selkie was very stressed in this environment so we were very fortunate to find a foster that could temporary house him until he finds the forever home he deserves.

Suri
Suri is two years old and was brought into our care after being abandoned while pregnant. Although we wish the previous owner would have brought her here we were very glad to get her here safe. Just a few days after her arrival she had 8 puppies. Now that all of her puppies are being adopted, it’s her turn!

Colten and Tyler
Colten and Tyler are about three months old and are a bonded pair that would love to find their forever home together!
Bandit and Tipper
Bandit and Tipper are about three months old and are siblings!
Macy and Lacey
Macy and Lacey are a bonded pair that are under socialized and are in need of a foster home!
Trench and Watson
Trench and Watson are about a month old and are siblings that would love to go home together to keep each other company!

To adopt a shelter animal, visit the Outer Banks SPCA Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or give them a call at 252-475-5620.
