The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Outer Banks from midnight Wednesday through 7 p.m. Thursday as a strong coastal storm crosses the area.
The weather service says north winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected, with gusts 45 to 50 mph, Thursday into Thursday night. Well see rain beginning Wednesday night, which may change to light snow mainly north of Highway 264 late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. No significant accumulations are not expected at this point.
The strong winds could also produce minor coastal flooding from Buxton south to Ocracoke along the Pamlico Sound into Thursday night, with water level rises of 1 to 2 feet above ground a possibility.
