Hyde County man dies after being shot while duck hunting

A Hyde County man died Monday afternoon after suffering a gunshot wound while duck hunting in a blind along a waterfowl impoundment near Englehard.

First responders arrived on scene shortly after a 911 call was made around 2:30 p.m., and commenced lifesaving efforts until Hyde County EMS arrived.

Brandon Marshall of Englehard was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is currently still under investigation by N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission Law Enforcement.

“Thank you for your patience, understanding and respect for the parties involved and their family members,” said N.C. Wildlife Law Enforcement Sgt. Daniel Kennedy.
