Outer Banks Distilling, makers of the popular Kill Devil Rum brand, has switched to making hand sanitizer. And they are making if available free of charge.

Bottles can be picked-up at their distillery at 510 Budleigh Street in downtown Manteo.

“If you can’t get here call us at 252-423-3011 and we will do our best to deliver,” they posted on their Facebook page Thursday.

It is a 70-percent alcohol by volume solution that will work for sanitizing surfaces as well as hands if you’re in a pinch, they said. But they note that soap and hot water is always best for washing your hands.
