Virginia man charged with several felony drug counts after traffic stop – OBX Today

On July 30, 2023, at approximately 2:08 am, a Patrol Sergeant with the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle in the 4100 block of Caratoke Highway.

During the encounter, the supervisor observed narcotics in plain view and conducted a probable cause vehicle search. Deputies seized multiple prepackaged narcotics and arrested Pedro Julio Acosta Portillo, 23, of Woodbridge, VA.

Portillo was charged with Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Felony PWISD Cocaine, Felony PWISD Marijuana, Felony Maintain Vehicle for CS, (M) Possess Drug Paraphernalia, (M) No Operators License, and Speeding 63/45 mph zone.

Portillo was given a $20,000 secured bond and turned over to the Currituck County Detention Center and has a US Immigration and Customs detainer.
