College of The Albemarle (COA) is pleased to announce the opening of “Connectivity,” an exhibition of new work in painting, pottery and jewelry. The exhibition is located in the Professional Arts Gallery at COA – Dare.
The featured artwork was created by students in the COA-Dare Continuing Education program, highlighting their technical skills and robust creativity. Wearable art, decorative and functional ceramics, and paintings in a variety of media will be on display. The students in this program are emerging and established artists studying with instructors Danielle Beaty, Sarah Gannon, and Robin York.
“Students in these continuing education classes have the opportunity to stretch their creative boundaries while learning new skills ,” shared Fay Davis Edwards, the COA Coordinator for Continuing Education. “The work exhibited in “Connectivity” is a gorgeous display of the talent being cultivated at COA-Dare, and it spotlights what can happen when students really connect with their materials and ideas.”
Danielle Beaty, the adjunct instructor for the Jewelry Arts program, has had an opportunity to share new approaches and insight with her students. “There is no art more connective than that of jewelry; it links the wearer not only to the artist, but previous generations as well. By incorporating technical and decorative elements into their art this semester, students have successfully reimagined both past and present.”
“Connectivity” will run through December 20, 2022. The gallery is on the second floor of the Professional Arts Building at COA – Dare, 205 Highway 64 S., Manteo, North Carolina. The public is welcome to visit the gallery Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
