Mediacom customers across northeastern North Carolina have been without internet, voice and video services for an extended period for a second straight day with no details from the company on what may be the cause.

Nearly 17,000 customers in mainland counties served by Mediacom, including Currituck, were without service for much of the afternoon on Monday.

Another outage began late Tuesday afternoon and has continued into the evening. As of 7:30 p.m., Mediacom’s website estimated time for restoration was 1 a.m. Wednesday.

A search of social media shows there is a similar outage being experienced by Mediacom customers in Delaware, Maryland and Iowa.

Mediacom’s support account on Twitter has been responding to customer complaints saying the cause of the outage is under investigation and technicians are working on the issue.

OBX Today has reached out to a Mediacom representative by email, but had received no response.
