Ryland Poyner, chief of Crawford VFD, passes away on Christmas Eve


Ryland Lee Poyner, 66, answered his final call suddenly at his Barco home December 24, 2021.

Ryland was a devoted husband and father and served the community bravely as Fire Chief of the Crawford Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Chief Poyner leaves a huge void in the lives of several relatives including his wife Luella and his daughter and son-in-law Megan and Kurtis as well as numerous other relatives, extended family members, his fire department family, and countless friends.

The family will be honoring all of Ryland’s directives including cremation and private burial at the family cemetery.

Plans are pending for a celebration of life in which the family and community will be invited to honor the Chief’s unique life and achievements.
