On Monday, December 09, 2024 at approximately 09:00 pm, a Dare County Sheriff’s Office patrol
deputy stopped a vehicle near Whites Shopping Center on Hwy 64 in Manns Harbor for a traffic
violation. During the traffic stop, a K9 was deployed on the vehicle and alerted to the presence of
a controlled substance, resulting in the seizure of an amount of Fentanyl.
Mr. Robert M. Dawson, M/33, Avon, NC was then arrested and charged with (F) Possession of
Schedule I Illegal Controlled Substance, (F) Maintaining a Vehicle for Illegal Controlled
Substance, and (F) PWIMSD Illegal Controlled Substance.
Mr. Dawson is currently being held at the Dare County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center in lieu of
a $15,000 bond.
