Lt. Tony Corbin. (Town of Manteo)

The Town of Manteo and Manteo Police Chief Brad Eilert are pleased to announce the promotion of Investigator Tony Corbin to the rank of Lieutenant.  Eilert’s recent promotion to Police Chief left his previous position as Lieutenant vacant. Corbin has served over 23 years in law enforcement, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to the department.

Lieutenant Corbin has been serving as an Investigator with the Manteo Police Department (MPD) since December 2021.  “From day one, Lieutenant Corbin has been an excellent asset to the department and the Town of Manteo.  His strong initiative and dedication to continuing his education and training is exceptional,” stated Chief Eilert.

Lieutenant Corbin holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University, and during the same time completed Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET).  He is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Safety from the University of Virginia and a Leadership Certificate from the NC Justice Academy.  He has completed a series of graduate-level courses specifically designed to help law enforcement partners develop their expertise in the field of public safety through the Federal Bureau of Investigation Office of Partner Engagement and Center for Strategic Thinking and Education in Public Safety (C-Steps) program.

Corbin is a 2023 graduate of the Administrative Officer Management Program at NC State University.  Lieutenant Corbin is also a Certified General Instructor and Specialized Hazmat Instructor.

Corbin and his wife, Crystal, and son, Bryson, are excited to call Manteo and Dare County home.  From day one of living in Manteo, they made it a point to learn about the community and all its resources, attractions, activities, history, etc. Their adventures are plentiful and their heart for being a true part of the community is priceless.

Lieutenant Corbin’s promotion not only signifies his personal achievements but also the department’s confidence in his talent and dedication and the impact they will have on building upon a successful community-policing program.  In addition, his larger-than-life sense of humor and excellent people skills will no doubt help him deliver a type of leadership resulting in exceptional service to our community.  The Town of Manteo and the Manteo Police Department are extremely fortunate to have a well experienced and dedicated individual such as Lieutenant Corbin as part of the team.  We are very proud of you and look forward to what the future may hold.  Congratulations Lieutenant Tony Corbin!
