Living Shoreline and Resiliency Project construction resumes today in Duck – OBX Today

Fred Smith Company resumes construction on the project today with preparations for surveying, staking, and sidewalk demo including reclamation.

Please note that Fred Smith Company will also begin a new work schedule this week. Crews will be working 24- hours a day, five days a week from Sunday night through Friday night. This new work schedule will shorten the amount of time that the road reconstruction will occur. The Town has actively addressed lighting and noise concerns with Fred Smith Company.

They will use directional lights pointed westward over the Currituck Sound, reducing light pollution affecting nearby residents. Additionally, Fred Smith has committed to the implementation of noise mitigation strategies.

Please note that this 24/5 schedule is for the road reconstruction portion of the project, not the entire project. The completion date of the Living Shoreline and Resiliency Project is estimated to be mid-May.
