Are you in search of the perfect fur-ever friend? A new addition to the family, perhaps? OBX Today in partnership with the Outer Banks SPCA is proud to present “Tail Waggin’ Tuesdays.”
Each Tuesday, browse our provided selection of videos and images and follow along as we showcase a variety of pets that are currently awaiting adoption at our local animal shelter.
This week’s featured pets are Cookie, Marnie, Rico, Romeo, Peaches, and Bagheera. Verbiage is provided by shelter manager Leann Saunders:
Marnie is about a year old and came in from the same shelter as Cookie! They were best buds there and still love play time together. Marnie is a little nervous meeting new people so we bring her out with another dog to help her feel more comfortable. Although we don’t know much about Marnie’s background we know she has so much love to give. She seems to be house trained, knows basic commands, and could also go home with cats.
Rico is about 9 months old. He was adopted from us as a puppy and sadly returned for not being socialized. As you may know the first year of a puppies life is so important to introduce them to new things so now we are basically starting over with Rico as a puppy but in a 9 month old body. He is crate trained and seems to really enjoy other animals. We do feel he would do best going into the home without small children and with another dog to help him gain confidence. Rico is available for a foster with the intent to adopt. Which means you can take him home for a minimum of two weeks to help him adjust and see if he could fit into your lifestyle. We do not allow this for all of our dogs but for Rico there is so much we would still like to learn about him and can’t do that without the help from our community.
Romeo is about 3 years old and was surrendered into our care due to no fault of his own. Romeo has lived with the same family his whole life and isn’t understanding what he did to be here. Romeo’s previous family had to surrender him because he was going away for work and could no longer care for him. Romeo previously lived with children and a small dog. Romeo is very scared and stressed here and would benefit from a foster. If you are interested in helping Romeo and have another dog we would love to do a meet and greet!
Peaches is about three months old! With her silky soft fur and adorable face, she is sure to win the hearts of all who meet her. Peaches loves cuddles and attention, but also has a streak of independence that adds to her irresistible charm. This little feline beauty is recommended for a single pet home, where she can be the center of attention. Adopt Peaches today and give her the loving home she deserves!
To adopt Cookie, Marnie, Rico, Romeo, Peaches, Bagheera, or any of the other shelter animals, visit the Outer Banks SPCA Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or give them a call at 252-475-5620.
