Through the generosity of the Manteo Rotary Club, the Manteo Library now has a greatly expanded collection of bilingual and Spanish language books for children.

This donation of $1,495 allowed the library to purchase 110 books and more than 50 Spanish language and bilingual titles for children that are available as eBooks on the Cloud Library.

Over the past few years, the library has attempted to provide a small number of quality bilingual materials for children who are enrolled in the local school system’s dual language program. With this substantial donation, we have been able to greatly expand the scope and breadth of our bilingual children’s materials in order to better support the dual language students. Additionally, this collection will allow us to better serve our significant Hispanic population where English may not be the primary language spoken in the home. In the new year, we hope to expand our youth programming at the Manteo Library to include a bilingual component.

These titles, like all circulating materials owned by the Manteo Library, may be requested and sent to any of the libraries in our system by our free and convenient courier service. For more information about the Manteo Rotary Club, visit https://www.facebook.com/manteo.rotary.club.
