Town of Kill Devil Hills to conduct limited storm debris collection


The Town of Kill Devil Hills Public Services Department will be conducting a limited storm debris collection from sound side properties impacted by flooding during winter storm Elliot beginning Monday January 9, 2023.

The limited collection will be provided for properties along Bay Drive, the 700 block of Canal Drive, Cedar Drive west of W. First Street, Captains Circle and W. First Street west of Canal Drive. Please have items for collection placed in the Street right-of way not later than Sunday, January 8, 2023.

Place approved storm debris items in (3) separate bundles as follows:

  • Bundle #1: Vegetative Debris (limbs, leaves, branches, sea grass, etc.)
  • Bundle #2:  Construction and Demolition Materials (building materials, shingles, etc.)
  • Bundle #3: White Goods and Metals 

Please Note: Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics should be brought to the Recycle Center.

As a regular service, the Town’s Recycle and Dry Trash Drop-Off Centers are available to drop off materials Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and on Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  The Recycle and Dry Trash Drop-Off Centers will be closed on Monday, January 2, 2023 in observance of the New Year’s holiday.  Use of the Dry Trash Drop-Off Center by residents requires a no-cost permit, which can be obtained at the Public Services Administration Building, 107 Town Hall Drive.

Non-Approved Materials, Mixed Piles, and Improperly Sorted Items Will Not Be Collected!
