The Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® (OBAR) held their 25th Annual Charity Surf Fishing Tournament.  The charity event benefited the Association’s Disaster Relief held with the Outer Banks Community Foundation.  Twenty-five teams cast their lines at the event and over $6,000 was raised.

Surf Fishing Chair Aimee Pitts of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage said, “It was a perfect day for fishing, and we did not have to worry about the rain.”  She continued, “Everyone was generous, had fun, and caught some big fish.  I would like to give special thanks to the local businesses and OBAR members that provided raffle prizes for the big day, especially Kellogg Supply for providing fishing buckets for all 25 teams.”

The team Guaranteed Bait with Captain Brendan Medlin took first place and won the top prize of $600.  Medlin not only donated the money back to OBAR’s Disaster Relief Fund but matched it. The All You Can Eat with Captain Adam Pitsilidies took second place and won $300.  The team OBX Anglers A Team with Captain Stu Baldwin was third and generously donated their $150 prize back to the Disaster Relief fund.  Guaranteed Bait also claimed the largest fish, a 32-inch drum.  Team Captain Medlin charitably donated and matched the winning money to the Disaster Relief fund as well.

Says Guaranteed Bait’s Captain Brendan Medlin, “Winning the fishing tournament was a blast, but the real reward is having an opportunity to give back to our community in a meaningful way.  We at Guaranteed Rate wish to thank OBAR for organizing this fundraiser which will helps families in need.  We are grateful to be a part of that effort.”

OBAR would like to give thanks to breakfast sponsor BRYCO, lunch sponsor Steven Gillis State Farm/Rocket Mortgage, beverage truck sponsor Malarney & McCown, and snack sponsor Farm Bureau Currituck Alex Fiorillo.

A raffle Yeti cooler package donated by Farmer’s Daughter and Cola Vaughan Realty worth $1,000 went to Kathie Nesbitt. The package included a Yeti Roadie 24 and an assortment of t-shirts, hats, Yeti drinkware, and a $200 gift card.
