The Kill Devil Hills Board of Commissioners recently recognized Virginia M. Rettgers, a Kill Devil Hills resident, who celebrated her 100th birthday on February 13, 2022.

Ms. Rettgers’ family inquired whether the town recognized citizens who reach such a milestone in life. In response, the Board of Commissioners approved a resolution establishing a Centenarian Society for the Town of Kill Devil Hills, which the Board unanimously approved, and they inducted its first member, “Lady” Virginia.

On behalf of the Board, Mayor Sproul visited Lady Virginia and presented her with the signed resolution, an honorary certificate, and special Town mementos. Mayor Sproul also shared with Lady Virginia, and her family, his deepest respect and appreciation for someone who has given so much to their family, communities, and country, by living a prosperous 100 years.

The Town of Kill Devil Hills is honored to welcome Lady Virginia into its ranks of the Centenarian Society.

If you are, or know of, a Kill Devil Hills resident who has reached a momentous 100th birthday, please contact the Kill Devil Hills Clerk’s Office at 252-449-5300 to inquire about induction to the Town’s Centenarian Society.
