Food for Thought’s free weekend meals now available to all K-8 students

Matching Dare County’s expanded free breakfast and lunch program, Food for Thought Outer Banks has expanded its own program to include all pre-K through 8th grade students for free, nutritional weekend meal deliveries.

Shelf-stable meals are now being sent home every Friday to participants until the end of the school year. Each bag will contain only healthy meals and snacks: 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, snacks and milk.

Families who wish to receive a bag need to contact their school’s guidance counselor for a form. There are no income restrictions; everyone who completes the application will be accepted. Participation is entirely anonymous, and no financial or identifying information is shared with Food for Thought volunteers.

Do not miss out on this opportunity to receive healthy food every week for your child.

Food For Thought is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that provides healthy non-perishable breakfasts and lunches for students in Dare County. Now in its 13th year, the Outer Banks Food for Thought serves all schools from Cape Hatteras to Kitty Hawk.
