Construction for the Old Nags Head Cove water main replacement project is anticipated to begin the week of February 7.

In advance of construction, the contractor has placed white flags, spaced at 25 to 50 feet on center, along the planned watermain alignment. It is expected a 10-foot-wide working area will be required to install the new watermain along this length.

If property owners have landscape or other above-grade improvements within this right-of-way area, we would request these items to be removed in advance of construction.

For smaller landscape improvements, the items can be re-installed post-construction. Items left within the construction path, the contractor will attempt to relocate and re-install but provides no guarantees.

The construction sequence is planned to begin at the intersection of S. Croatan Hwy./ W. Old Cove Rd., work around W. Old Cove Rd., proceed to S. Cobia Way and W. Sandpiper Terrace through to S. Roanoke Way to S Blue Marlin Way, to Albacore Dr., to S. Pamlico Way, W. Tarpon Ct., AmberJack Ct., and Dolphin Ct.. Project sequencing is tentatively scheduled to finish with W. Fin Lane and S. Pompano Ct. Project sequencing is subject to change.

When construction commences, the town asks motorists and pedestrians alike to exercise caution when circulating within the active construction zone.

Weekly project updates will be provided to inform residents of construction progress in addition to potential change in neighborhood traffic circulation and planned utility service interruptions.
