The Elizabeth City Police Department has entered Etheridge’s name and information into the National Crime Information Center as a wanted person and consider him “armed and dangerous”.

Officers were called to the 500 block of Perry and Jordan streets on December 2 at 5:02 p.m. to a report of shots being fired. Berry, Pledger and White were found dead inside a vehicle, while three other people from Elizabeth City were also wounded.

Witnesses told The Daily Advance they heard multiple gunshots that sounded like they came from different weapons, and that it sounded like dozens of shots had been fired.

“There were multiple shell casing recovered from the scene and this appears to be an isolated incident,” said interim Chief of Police Larry D. James, Sr. on Dec 1, but no other details about the shooting has been released.

The Elizabeth City Police Department, in conjunction with the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are continuing their investigative efforts, according to a press release.
