Currituck school officials investigate Snapchat threat

Currituck County school officials are investigating a threat made over Snapchat to Currituck County Middle School.

A parent reported the threat, in which an anonymous person wrote “I wouldn’t go (to school) if you value your life.”

Middle school administrators notified district administration who then notified the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office.

Through interviews with students, administrators, and the sheriff’s office it was concluded that there was no threat to the students and staff at the school, school officials said.

However, because of the seriousness of making such statements, disciplinary action will be taken with any involved students or other individuals.

“We will continue to take all threats against student safety seriously and commit to communicating with parents when situations warrant,” school officials said.
