The water main that connects Avon with Dare County’s water plant in Buxton has suffered a break for the third time in the past month, and customers in the Village of Avon are being asked to conserve water.

“The repair crews are currently working on the water line break this morning; however, it will be at least four or five hours before the break is repaired,” according to a Dare County news release.

Previous breaks of the line that runs along N.C. 12 between Buxton and Avon through the Haulover Area/Canadian Hole section of Cape Hatteras National Seashore happened on June 3 and June 13.
