Firefighters were responding to a fire in progress Wednesday evening at a home on Hayman Street near Virginia Dare Trail in Kill Devil Hills.
Scanner traffic indicated fire and smoke were showing from both floors of the two-story structure at 7 p.m.
Crews from Kill Devil Hills, Colington and Kitty Hawk fire departments along with Dare EMS were working the scene.
The Beach Road is currently closed to traffic between Hayman and Sothel in the Avalon section of Kill Devil Hills.
