Cape Hatteras National Seashore has installed an off-road vehicle corridor south of Ramp 44 near Cape Point to help protect nesting shorebirds.
A pair of oystercatchers have returned for the past several years are back again, said Michael Barber, a National Park Service spokesman.
The corridor begins at approximately 0.26 miles south of the ramp and ORV drivers will need to use the corridor to access Cape Point.
Once in the corridor, drivers will need to keep moving until reaching the open area of Cape Point.
The park service is monitor the bird breeding activity and will adjust restrictions as necessary, but Cape Point remains open, with the corridor allowing access.
