College of The Albemarle Foundation is excited to announce a donation for its emerging capital campaign that will secure the naming of a lecture hall within the new academic building at COA-Dare.

The major gift, acquired through an anonymous donation, will name the auditorium-style lecture hall the “Veterans Memorial Hall.” The lecture hall will have seating capacity for 100 students as well as state-of-the art technology for classes and presentations.

“We are so grateful to the anonymous donor who made it possible to name the lecture hall the Veterans Memorial Hall,” shared Kelli Harmon, commander of the Outer Banks American Legion Post 26. “College of The Albemarle is a wonderful resource for our community, enabling our friends and neighbors to continue growing and learning without leaving our beautiful beach. COA has gone above and beyond in their desire to partner with veterans utilizing their GI Bill benefits, and we’re so glad that partnership is now visible in the name of the hall.”

Michael Lewis, commander of the Outer Banks Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10950, said, “We are excited to have such a prominent building representing the vibrant veteran community here in the Outer Banks. We currently have members of our post taking advantage of the educational opportunities offered by COA. It’s exciting to know that in the future they’ll be learning in a building named in honor of their sacrifice. With our rich military history in the OBX, we’re extremely grateful to the anonymous donor who made commemorating the building possible.”

COA Foundation’s emerging capital campaign’s goal is to raise $1.2 million dollars for furniture, fixtures, equipment, and future programs for new building construction at COA-Dare and COA-Currituck.
