Replacement is underway of the metal traffic signal support arm that was damaged by last week’s strong winds.

Crews began working Monday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. 158 and Adams Street at mile post 10.5 to replace the signal assembly over the northbound lanes of South Croatan Highway.

Northbound traffic is being diverted at Adams Street to the Beach Road while those leaving Nags Head Acres are only allowed to turn right, said Nags Head Deputy Police Chief Perry Hale.

The stop lights will be off during the replacement, and officers will be at the intersection directing traffic until the work is complete.
