After a morning of snow flurries and some sleet across parts of eastern North Carolina, heavy rain is on the way and may cause some localized flooding.
The National Weather Service is calling for two to three inches of rain on Hatteras and Ocracoke islands and more than an inch for the rest of the Outer Banks. The storm system is the same coastal low bringing snow to Virginia, D.C. and Maryland today.
The heaviest rainfall is expected later this afternoon into evening, with breezy conditions also developing this afternoon along the Outer Banks.
