Better Beaches OBX in need of volunteers to help stabilize the dunes

Better Beaches OBX, a group that plants beach grasses to help stabilize Outer Banks’ dunes, is in search of volunteers to help finish out the planting season.

The group works from Nags Head and Kitty Hawk and has six to seven weeks of planting season left. The group hopes to finish the last mile of beach in its Kitty Hawk living dune project, and make an impact in Nags Head before the season ends.

“We work on any day that the weather allows, and the ‘window of opportunity’ is usually noon until 3 p.m. Any time in that window is appreciated,” Better Beaches said in a Facebook post.

The only tool you need to volunteer is a good pair of gloves.
