While 2020 was a challenging year, the N.C. Ferry Division made several notable accomplishments, including a peak-season evacuation of Ocracoke Island for Hurricane Isaias and earning its designation as a National Marine Highway Project.
The division also worked with coastal counties and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to complete a critical dredging effort in Pamlico Sound.
With two new river-class ferries on the way in the new year, Ferry Division staff expects 2021 will be a good year as well.
