The Hyde County Health Department has announced it will begin administering COVID-19 vaccines to teachers, front line workers and others regardless of age starting Wednesday and that the first shots have now arrived on Ocracoke.
Vaccinations will be available at the health department in Swan Quarter by appointment only for the following individuals:
● First responders (e.g., firefighters and police officers)
● Food and agricultural workers
● U.S. Postal Service workers
● Manufacturing workers
● Grocery store workers
● Public transit workers
● Education and child care workers (teachers, support staff, day care).
To pre-register and schedule an appointment, call 252-926-4399.
Vaccines were also arriving at the Ocracoke Health Center today. For an appointment, call 252-928-1511. If island residents want to travel to the mainland for their shot, they are welcome to do so.
Hyde County Health will also continue to vaccinate people who are 75 years or older if you have not been vaccinated yet.
