The Thanksgiving holiday is observed on both Thursday and Friday in North Carolina, which means that town, county and state government offices will be closed both days.
And trash and recycling pick-ups will take place on different schedules for some this week.
Dare County Government
All Dare County offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, and Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, in observance of Thanksgiving.
The Dare County C&D Landfill in Manns Harbor, the Buxton Transfer Station and the Manteo Recycle Yard will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, Friday, Nov. 27 and Saturday, Nov. 28 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Dare County Public Works, which provides trash collection for the unincorporated areas of the county and the Town of Kitty Hawk, has announced a revised collection schedule.
Residential trash collection for the week of Nov. 23 through Nov. 27 will take place as follows:
- Monday, Nov. 23: Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras
- Tuesday, Nov. 24: Manteo, Wanchese, Manns Harbor, East Lake, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon
- Wednesday, Nov. 25: No residential trash collection.
- Thursday, Nov. 26: Closed – no trash collection.
- Friday, Nov. 27: Closed – no trash collection.
Commercial trash pickup will take place on Monday, Nov. 23 and Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Town of Duck
The Town Administrative office will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 26 & 27, 2020, in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.
There will be an additional residential recycling collection on Monday, November 30, 2020.
Town of Southern Shores
Town Hall offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 & Friday Nov. 27, 2020, in observance of Thanksgiving.
There will be no change to the Recycling collection schedule.
Town of Kitty Hawk
Town of Kill Devil Hills
Town of Nags Head
Nags Head’s administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27, 2020.
There is no change to the residential trash collection schedule due to the holiday. However, commercial trash will not be collected on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. The regular trash collection schedule will resume on Friday.
The bulk item/brush collection yard will be closed on Thursday, November 26, 2020, but will re-open as normal on Saturday, November 28, 2020.
Town of Manteo
The Town of Manteo Administrative Offices will be closed on Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.
All Residential and Commercial trash pickup will be done on Monday, November 23rd and Wednesday, November 25th. Regularly scheduled pickup will resume on Monday, November 30, 2020.
