Kill Devil Hills Ocean Rescue wrapped up the summer season with a log of 700 incident responses, 25,0000 preventative actions and more than 1 million visitors on town beaches.

It was the busiest summer to date for Kill Devil Hills lifeguards, ocean rescue officials said in a Facebook post Monday. And they did it all without a single COVID-19 case among the staff.

“We would like to thank our staff for their work ethic, due diligence and public service,” the post said. “With your help KDH beaches were a safe and fun environment for all (minus the jellyfish).”

As of last week, there are no lifeguards manning the beaches and Oct. 15 was the last day of roving patrols.
