Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation are scheduled to begin a resurfacing project of U.S. 158 in Kitty Hawk next week.

The existing road surfaced will be milled and replaced with new asphalt along the section of North Croatan Highway between the Wright Memorial Bridge through the N.C. 12 intersection, including the Welcome Center access roads and parking lot.

Motorists should expect lane closures, construction barriers and temporary markings during the work, which is slated to start on Monday, October 19, and take around two weeks.

The project is part of an overall highway resurfacing contract in Dare County awarded by the NCDOT to RPC Contracting.
