Isaias has come and gone, and thankfully spared the Outer Banks any major issues. But he did leave behind one thing: rough ocean conditions. Red flags are flying at all Outer Banks beaches today, meaning no swimming.

A high surf advisory and beach hazards statement are still in effect and dangerous ocean conditions are expected to remain through the week, Dare County officials said. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water; rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from
shore into deeper water.

A prohibition for swimming along beaches on Hatteras Island remains in effect.

The most likely time for strong rip currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide,
which will occur around 1:30 p.m. today.
