Currituck County has decided to not issue an evacuation order as of Sunday morning, based on the latest information provided by the National Weather Service on Tropical Storm Isaias. That includes the Outer Banks areas of Corolla and Carova Beach.

“The emergency operations staff will continue to monitor Isaias and maintain consistent communication with the National Weather Service and N.C. Emergency Management,” according to a press release. “Any significant changes to the storm’s predicted track or intensity may prompt Currituck County to reconsider an evacuation.”

All residents and property owners are advised to finish preparations for Isaias. Gale force winds are expected to reach the area by Tuesday morning.

Currituck County declared a State of Emergency, effective at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 2.
