Two seriously hurt after crash on U.S. 158 in lower Currituck County

Two people suffered serious injuries after a pair of vehicles crashed Thursday morning on U.S. 158 in lower Currituck County.

Lower Currituck Volunteer Fire Department Chief Vernon Hart said the collision happened around 7:45 a.m. in the 7300 block of Caratoke Highway, between Jarvisburg and Powells Point.

The drivers of each vehicle were flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital due to the nature of their injuries, one by Dare MedFlight and the other by Nightingale. Their injuries were not considered to be life threatening.

Two passengers in one of the vehicles were treated at the scene by Currituck EMS.

The N.C. Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
