Dare County Health and Human Services reported 16 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday as a spike in infections continues on the Outer Banks and across North Carolina.
The latest cases include:

- non-resident, female, 18-24, transferred isolation
- resident, male, 18-24, home isolation
- non-resident, female,18-24, isolation in Dare
- resident, female, 17 under, home isolation
- resident, female, 50-64, home isolation
- non-resident, female, 50-64, transferred isolation
- non-resident, male, 18-24, isolation in Dare
- non-resident, male, 18-24, isolation in Dare
- non-resident, male, 18-24, isolation in Dare
- non-resident, male, 18-24, isolation in Dare
- non-resident, male, 18-24, isolation in Dare
- non-resident, male, 18-24, isolation in Dare
- non-resident, male, 50-64, transferred isolation
- resident, male 18-24, home isolation
Today’s case totals tie for the highest number of new cases in a day since testing began in March. Health officials also reported 16 new cases on Sunday, many of which were locals who attended a large party on Hatteras Island and didn’t wear face coverings or social distance.
It was also North Carolina’s highest day of new positive tests, with 1,843 new COVID-19 cases confirmed on Wednesday.
