Video: Dare’s 16th case of COVID-19 contracted by resident working off the Outer Banks

Dare County health officials have announced that another resident has tested positive for COVID-19, and gave more details about how the county’s 16th case of the coronavirus may have been contracted.

In the video posted Thursday, Dare County Department of Health and Human Services director Sheila Davies said the individual was recovering at home in self-isolation, and that they appeared to have acquired the virus through direct contact while working outside the area.

Davies also provides information regarding resources for businesses and individuals who may be seeking telehealth services.

As of Thursday morning, 10,509 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in North Carolina, with 378 deaths. At least 546 people were being treated at hospitals across the state.
