Transportation crews are working to remove sand and ocean over wash from N.C. 12 on Hatteras Island as a nor’easter continues to blow this morning.
N.C. 12 is closed from the Basnight Bridge at Oregon Inlet to Rodanthe. High tide is around 2:30 p.m. today, so that is likely to be when ocean overwash will be at its worst.
The N.C. Department of Transportation said it appears there is no damage to the pavement on N.C. 12.
There were also reports from Hatteras village of water covering Eagle Pass. Other parts of the village also experiencing minor soundside flooding.
