Island Free Press: No injuries reported in Avon Kitty Hawk Kites fire

Crews were battling a blaze at the Kitty Hawk Kites store in north Avon as of 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21.

Volunteer Fire Department crews from Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras are currently on the scene and are actively working to extinguish the fire. Personnel from the Dare County Sheriff’s Office and Dare County EMS are also on the scene.

Per a police officer at the site, there were no injuries reported as of 1:30 p.m. and no one remaining in the building.

Traffic delays are possible as work to extinguish the fire continues. As of 1:30 p.m., the cause of the fire was not known. The Island Free Press will continue to post updates as soon as they are available.
