A crash Wednesday morning involving a pair of tractor trailers shut down the Lindsey C. Warren Bridge that carries U.S. 64 over the Alligator River between Dare and Tyrrell counties.
The wreck happened around 8:30 a.m. near the foot of the bridge on the Tyrrell County side.
Dare County Sheriff’s Office Major Jeff Derringer said they estimate the bridge will reopen around 12:30 p.m.
Travelers are advised to use alternate routes, either via U.S. 264 and N.C. 94 through Swan Quarter, or U.S. 158 and U.S. 17 via Elizabeth City.
