On June 10, Wells Fargo will close its Manteo branch, one of only three on the Outer Banks.
The bank, at 318 U.S. Highway 64, has seen customer traffic decline over the past few years as a result of online banking, said Wells Fargo spokesman Josh Dunn.
“This is not an easy decision or one that we take lightly,” he said. “We continually evaluate our branch network, and make adjustments based on customer use, market factors, economic trends and competitor actions. This process leads to both expansion and consolidations.”
Once the Manteo branch closes, the Kill Devil branch nine miles away on U.S. 158 and the Souther Shorens branch at 5425 N. Croatan Highway will be the remaining Wells Fargo branches on the Outer Banks.
