Tideland Electric mourning loss of longtime employee

Tideland Electric Membership Corporation closed offices early Wednesday to pay respects to Robert “Robbie” Latham Rouse, a 36-year employee who died unexpectedly Feb. 29.

In a Facebook post, the company said co-workers were devastated by the news.

“He was simply the best there is of Tideland. He lived his entire life, from beginning to end, in selfless service to others,” the post said. “Please keep the Rouse family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

Rouse, 58, lived in Washington and served as Tideland’s Director of Warehouse/Fleet Right of Way. He was active in his community and the church, and was known by many for his “genuine smile and a kind word for everyone.”

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Belhaven, with burial to follow in the Belhaven Community Cemetery. Click here to read the full obituary.
