U.S. Census Bureau is looking to fill hundreds of temporary jobs in Dare County

The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting for hundreds of positions in Dare County for temporary full and part-time jobs in advance of the 2020 Census.

A single application allows you to be considered for several positions, including census taker, recruiting assistant, office clerk, and supervisory staff.

Pay varies by position; however, Census Taker Positions in Dare County earn $17 an hour with the possibility of reimbursement for work-related mileage and expenses.

The positions offer flexible work hours, including daytime, evenings and weekends.

To be eligible for a 2020 Census job, applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Social Security number and pass a background check.

On Monday, March 2, the NCWorks Bus will be accepting applications for 2020 Census positions in Dare County.

The bus will be parked at the Fessenden Center, located at 46830 NC 12 in Buxton, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and at Ben Franklin, located at 2117 South Croatan Highway in Nags Head, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The NC Works Bus is equipped with ten computers, WiFi and staff to help interested citizens complete applications. Applications can also be submitted online at 2020census.gov/jobs.

Participation in the 202 Census is vital to our community and has great impacts statewide. The Census population count is used to determine funding for state and local services, including roads, education, EMS, police, fire, and healthcare.
