The National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory from south of the Currituck Beach Light to Oregon Inlet through 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Elevated seas are expected to linger across the waters into early Wednesday morning. Sea fog will be dense at times through Tuesday as warm and humid southwest winds continue to blow over the relatively cool waters, the weather service said.

Fog will reduce visibility to less than one mile. For mariners, forecasters warn to proceed with caution.

“Use proper fog signals. Make sure all running lights are on. Remember to use
your radar and compass,” the weather service said.
